Dear BAHA Members,
Can you believe it’s that time of year again? Registration is now open and we are looking forward to an amazing season.
Thank you for your trust in voting me in as President. My promise to you is this: I will always have an open mind to suggestions and comments. I will do my best to meet with every team and parent of each team so as to provide a comfort zone which will allow all members to approach and/or contact me at any time. Along with Coach and member feedback, I will always do what I believe is best for BAHA.
I was in the US Army for seven years and had an Old First Sergeant that once said: “Do not come to me with only a problem. Come to me with a solution to a problem and we will discuss the problem.” I think this is a great quote and a policy that I would like to institute at BAHA as well. As I said, I am open and willing to listen to any and all of your suggestions. I will support you in any way so we can have an open dialogue with each other and our Board of Directors.
We are all BAHA - the Board Members, the Coaches, the Players, and the Parents. We all need to volunteer our time for our kids in some capacity. I have been a member of BAHA for 17 years as a parent. I volunteer because I want my kids to have the best experience of their lives. We cannot operate unless we have Parent Volunteers. I understand not everyone has the time to Coach or be on the BAHA Board, however, we all need to be around the rink for our kids. There are so many places you can put your time. We are always looking for help with our Home Tournaments to fill positions such as Admissions, Score Sheets, Timekeepers, and Penalty Boxes. We always need help with Fundraising and other Committees. It’s a great feeling giving back to the kids, and we need all the help we can get!
Since March, when the hockey season ended, the BAHA Board has been hard at work. We have rewritten the By-Laws and updated our Handbook. We have been looking at the upcoming 2017-2018 season and are doing our best to make it a fun and successful one. Register your players as early as possible so we know what the numbers look like and can best plan for the months ahead. This year we will be requiring all Players, Coaches and Parents to have Code of Conduct forms signed at the first team meeting of the year. I will be at each of these meetings to introduce myself and answer any questions you may have.
If you have any questions ahead of time, please feel free to send me an email at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you again for your support and I look forward to meeting you all in the near future.
Bubba Ritchie, BAHA President
